Several questions about my Babylock Ellegante and a Mac computer. I can't find my Babylock USB stick, and the saleswoman at the Babylock store said she didn't think Babylock made their own sticks any more, but that I should keep to 1GB and under. Can I buy any normal 1GB USB stick and use it? Any suggestions? I live in the boondocks, so I'll buy online. I just had to get a new laptop computer, and it's a Mac. Can I put a USB stick into the Mac, transfer an embroidery file to it and then have it work in my Ellegante? Can I directly transfer designs through my Mac and a USB cable to my Ellegante? I'd rather learn from someone who's tried and succeeded or failed before I mess up either my Ellegante or my Mac. I bought my Ellegante from a now-closed dealer in a town 2500 miles from where I currently live, and the local (2 1/2 hours away) dealer isn't terribly inclined to answer questions about an older machine that I purchased elsewhere. -- Edited on 5/25/15 at 8:16 PM. I have a Babylock Ellisimo & ten needle as well as a new Destiny and I use a MAC computer pretty exclusively. I bought a HP laptop to hook to my machine via cable, but I love my MAC so I just buy small USB sticks and transfer PES designs easily from MacBook to machine. A dealer once told me that I couldn't do that and needed to purchase the pricey USB stick that Babylock makes, but then I found on the BL web site a list of USB sticks they approve, so I knew the dealer was in error. My dealer is really anti-MAC and I think it's truly simply out of ignorance. I use Designer's gallery Embroidery works-advanced on my Mac and also Embrilliance software, which was designed with Mac-users in mind. I bought the HP so I could use Studio and Palette software, but I have such a love/hate relationship with that HP and since my MAC is so intuitive, I've not bothered to learn Studio or Palette. I've not purchased Stitch Artist yet from Embrilliance, but think it would be easier than learning Palette. It's interesting to me that so may of the newer programs used by Babylock (Palette upgrade to '10' as well as Embroidery Works) look to be built on a very similar framework as the Embrilliance program that was designed for MAC users. Jeanie in SC. Your Mac will allow you to run Windows in a couple different ways (assuming it's new enough, but this has been an option for some time). One is Boot Camp, which basically splits your hard drive into two partitions and leaves macOS on one and installs Windows on the other. The other is something called an emulator, which you launch like an application and which then lets you run Windows programs. I personally think the emulator is a better option unless you've got multiple Windows-only programs you'd like to run. Best eyeliner for waterline that doesn't smudge drugstore. Is great for most people, since it's soft so it goes on easily and smoothly, it comes in a bunch of non-boring shades, and it really does last forever. You can soften it up a little by holding it over a lighter until it's warm and amore malleable, but the formula is intentionally hard, so it stays in place. If you blink a lot or have eyes that defeat just about every mascara, shadow, and liner you put on them, you might want a hard pencil, like. My brother did Boot Camp on an iMac several years ago for gaming purposes and the hard drive met a premature death when Windows failed to run the fan as much as it should have. There's a few different Mac options for embroidery software now, but this is also something to keep in mind. The other thing is how you plan to get designs to your machine. USB sticks are the most likely method for you - I don't think there's a machine on the market that will talk to a Mac directly (whether through a USB cable or over wifi). But Janome has iPad apps that will interact with their wifi-capable machines, and I think there's another brand that will too.
